We are Roanne and Russ von Hagen.  We are in our early 70’s.  We moved to Colonial Estates 3 ½ years ago. We returned to Washington after living in CA for 5 years because our son Paul moved from CA to OR and we decided to come back to the beautiful Pacific North West  too. We chose Colonial Estates after visiting and talking to residents for a few days. Everyone said they enjoyed living here. The purchasing process through Sandy Michael was great. We like the sense of community and the many amenities and activities here. We have made numerous friends. It is a safe private community and is family owned. We intend to live here for as long as possible.

My name is Bill Taylor. My wife Mary and I moved from Ohio to Colonial Estates in 2015 to be near family in Seattle. Our home search included single family homes, condos, apartments, and finally manufactured homes. We could easily tell on our first visit that Colonial Estates was a well-kept community with a well-appointed clubhouse and many opportunities for social interaction. We recognized the value for our money and have enjoyed our time here. The location is perfect for local shopping and quick access to I-5 for traveling.

We have both been involved in many of the planned activities and made countless friends and acquaintances here. The homeowner’s social organization sponsors some great events such as pet parades, band concerts, seasonal parties, annual craft bazaar and more. The heated indoor swimming pool adds another gathering place for water exercise and recreation as well as daily children swim hours for the visiting grand-kids. There are many other daily activities scheduled and room for you to add one to your own liking. All in all, the decision to move to Colonial Estates was a pretty smart move.

My husband and I moved to Colonial Estates in April of 2016. We were newly married seniors living in an apartment in Lacey, WA. We were hoping to find a home of our own that was affordable, clean and in a safe neighborhood.  After looking at several houses and other senior manufactured home communities we found Colonial Estates. We were immediately impressed with how well the seniors maintained their yards and the whole community appeared outstanding. The clubhouse was beautiful with a modern kitchen, indoor pool, showers, hot tub and the surrounding area was very nice. The neighbors were helpful and friendly.

We have enjoyed our home.  It is located close to everything we need from medical care to shopping and dining while still being in a serene setting.

We truly are happy with our choice.  We feel that possibly Colonial Estates could be our last move until we may need more care.

Hello from Colonial Estates!

My name is Susan Bellus and my husband’s name is Jack and we would love to tell you about our experience living at Colonial Estates TWICE!

We originally move here in July of 2017.  Thinking that this was to be our home for a long time, we invested in a beautiful high-end kitchen remodel.   In November of 2019, a family situation in Idaho required us to move.  We are happy to share that we recouped all the money we had spent on upgrades when we sold the home.

In January of 2022, we moved back to Colonial Estates.  We love this location and all it has to offer for those 55+.  We are in the 80 + age group so the security, walkability and the other amenities of the indoor swimming pool and the beautiful clubhouse are very important to us.  We are enjoying remodeling our second home in Colonial Estates. This home has huge windows, skylights and brings in a lot of cheery light. Our days are good here.

I’m Evie Zobrist and I came to Colonial Estates from my home of 53 years in 2018. When I was looking for a new home close to my doctors, shopping and friends I investigated places near by. I was so impressed with Colonial Estates because the park is so well kept and the amenities are many – a beautiful club house, swimming pool (which my great grandchildren love), good walking area. I like to take advantage of the Western Trail for my longer walks. I can walk to the shopping center from the trail.

I felt comfortable here right away because of the many activities there are to enjoy. The people are so friendly and have come to my aid when I have needed help. I love my neighbors. I consider them good friends.

I plan to live here as long as I can – this is my new forever home.

In the fall of 2019, I came to Colonial Estates.  I had always lived in apartments where the landlord fixed things that went wrong in the apartment and so I was apprehensive about buying a house here and being responsible for taking care of it myself.  But I took the plunge and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

My house has been wonderful.  No major repairs needed to be made.  Some things did need attention, but I happened to live next to an amazing neighbor who helped me fix them together.  This is the kind of unspoken thing that happens again and again here in Colonial Estates:  there is almost always someone in the community who can help you solve a problem.  I rarely enjoyed that kind of help in all the years I rented an apartment.  Most often renters don’t seem to have a sense of community the way the residents of Colonial Estates do with their neighbors and that’s something you can’t put a price on.  Neighbors helping neighbors.  We often hear that’s the way we should all live together but here in Colonial Estates that’s the way it is being lived already.

In addition, we all can enjoy the clubhouse swimming pool, the hot tub, the library reading room, gardening opportunities around your house, and various celebrations and interest activities throughout the year.  Again, this all contributes to a feeling of belonging that I knew nothing about in the fall of 2019 but I know it now and I wouldn’t trade that for any apartment arrangement anywhere in the city.
